Spectrophotometer Testing & Validation

Mt. Baker Research offers certified traceable validations of customer-owned spectrophotometers. We test accuracy and repeatability using procedures approved by ASTM and 8 (or more) calibrated reference standards from our permanent collection.

CERAM Series II tiles plus White & Black
Ceram BCRA Series II reference color standards calibrated in the SPIN and SPEX geometries.

Special CERAM Chromatic & Achromatic tiles
Ceram Special Series II reference color standards calibrated in the SPIN and SPEX geometries.

As a basis for traceability, we maintain 40 reference color standards calibrated recently at NRC, NIST, JAIST, or Avian Technologies. For the (0°/45°) bi-directional geometry our 10 calibrated reference standards span the wavelength range 250 - 850 x 5 nm. For the (d/8°) SPIN and the (d/8°) SPEX geometries the wavelength range is 360 - 750 x 10 nm. For the (8°/d) SPIN and the (8°/d) SPEX geometries the wavelength range is 360 - 830 x 1 nm.

Our fees for off-site validation include one printed report and 2 duplicate CD data disks. Fixturing (if required) is not included. The report includes a certificate of validation together with graphs and tables of data from tests of accuracy and repeatability. The CD includes the report together with certified performance data in Microsoft Excel format. We supply duplicate validation reports printed at the same time as the original copy for $75.00 each.

Loaned instruments and white reference tiles must be boxed, clean and in good working condition. We do not diagnose or repair damaged instruments. Loaned instruments are insured against loss while they are on our premises. Customers are responsible for all shipping costs, including insurance.

We offer an inexpensive on-site validation service to clients who purchase one calibrated Diagnostic Tile Set A or one calibrated Profiling Tile Set. We are available for other validation projects on a fee-for-service basis.
