Certified Traceable Calibrations

Mt. Baker Research deeply discounts the fees for calibrating the sets of ceramic color standards that we produce. In the (d/8°) SPIN geometry and the (d/8°) SPEX geometry we charge a flat fee of $1,000.00 to calibrate one set containing 16 2x2-inch color standards with traceability to NIST. (Note: In the (d/8°) SPIN and the (d/8°) SPEX geometries the standard wavelength range is 360 - 750 nm and the pitch is 10 nm. Contact us to request a quote for an extended wavelength range.)

In the (45°/0°) bi-directional geometry the traceability changes to NRC. Because (45°/0°) calibrations require 50% more instrument time, the flat fee per set increases to $1,500.00. (Note: In the (45°/0°) geometry the wavelength range is 360 - 740 x 10 nm.)

For calibrating individual color standards we charge a $150.00 one-time setup fee for each geometry specified in the purchase order. In addition, we charge a fee for each color standard calibrated in that geometry. This fee decreases as the total number of calibrations increases. Our fees range from 25% to 35% of the cost of similar calibrations at NRC.

We charge the same fees to calibrate customer-owned color standards, but the client is responsible for the costs of shipping and insurance. Customer-owned sets of color standards must be boxed, and the individual color standards must be undamaged, clean and ready for measurement. If the standards are heavily soiled, we offer non-destructive cleaning for an additional $15.00 per standard.

The prices quoted below include one soft optical bag or optical pad for each calibrated 2x2-inch or 6x6-inch color standard. Our calibration fees are EXW Bellingham (IncoTerms 2000). The quoted fees do not include purchase of the color standards, shipping, insurance or fixturing (if required).
