Cleaning Kit

Whenever a precision optical component is cleaned, its critical surface may be damaged. To reduce the likelihood of damage, it is important to minimize the need for cleaning by observing the procedures that are recommended in the maintenance manual.

When cleaning becomes necessary, only use the tools and materials supplied in the Cleaning Kit, and carefully follow the procedures described in the instruction manual. Our limited product warranty does not apply to color standards that are damaged by mishandling, misuse or improper cleaning.

Each Cleaning Kit contains archival grade washable cotton gloves, disposable nitrile gloves, PEC*PAD non-abrasive wipers, 3-mil re-sealable polyethylene bags, a soft static-free brush, a dropping dispenser for isopropyl alcohol, a printed instruction manual, a CD containing technical information and a re-sealable black plastic storage case.

Because of shipping restrictions, Mt. Baker Research does not supply compressed tetrafluoroethane or isopropyl alcohol with the Cleaning Kit. We recommend using additive-free compressed 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane, which is non-contaminating and nonflammable. Purchase additive-free isopropyl alcohol (90%) mixed with distilled water (10%). This mixture is irritating, toxic and highly flammable. Wear eye protection and avoid prolonged exposure to the vapors.
