Mt. Baker Research L.L.C. ServicesCalibrated Sets of 4-Tile Matrix Arrays
We offer certified, traceable calibrations of the 4-tile matrix arrays that we produce. We fabricate these arrays from 2x2-inch standards in 48 regular colors with a glossy surface finish, and we recommend them for use with portable (small aperture) spectrophotometers. We are developing arrays for use with benchtop instruments. The Delrin holder provides a positioning well and label for each standard. Each standardized set of 4 arrays includes the same colors as one of our sets of individual standards. For calibrated sets our fees include one batch calibration certificate with data plots and references and 2 duplicate CD disks with certified data sets in Microsoft Excel format. We insert each array in a non-abrasive optical component bag for shipment inside a resealable laboratory-grade polyethylene bag. Our fees do not include shipping, insurance, or fixturing (if required). Depending on the number of calibrations, our fees range from 25% to 35% of the cost of similar calibrations at the National Research Council of Canada. (Caveat: Our abridged spectrophotometers output reflectance data at a wavelength interval of 10 nm.) We use 2 methods to discount our sets of calibrated matrix arrays: (1) We offer deep quantity discounts on them. (2) In addition we contribute free calibrations. For 2-array sets, which contain 8 standards, we charge for 6 calibrations. For 4-array sets of 16 standards, we charge for 13 calibrations. Based on the current exchange rate with airmail shipment to the U.S. and a 35% dealer markup, one boxed set of 14 calibrated 2x2-inch CERAM Series II standards plus black and white standards is roughly twice as expensive as one of our calibrated sets. Each of our sets contains 16 standards! We offer certified traceable calibrations in 3 geometries using the following reference quality spectrophotometers: (A) Konica-Minolta CM-2500c, 360 - 740 x 10 nm, (45/0) bi-directional geometry. (B) GretagMacbeth ColorEye 7000A, 360 - 750 x 10 nm, SPIN (specular-included) and SPEX (specular-excluded) geometries.
To provide traceability we maintain 40 reference standards recently calibrated at the National Research Council of Canada, the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, or Avian Technologies L.L.C. For the (0/45) geometry our 10 reference standards span the wavelength range 250 - 850 x 5 nm. For the (0/45) geometry our 10 reference standards span the wavelength range 250 - 850 x 5 nm. For the SPIN and SPEX geometries the range is 360 - 830 x 1 nm.
